Revel Mt. Lemmon
Originally published November 4, 2019 Saturday (2 days ago), my dad and I did a marathon in Tucson, Arizona called Revel Mt. Lemmon. It was a downhill marathon that started up high in a canyon and then ended up in the foothills of Tucson. The race was fun, and I got a new PR of 3:50.34, thanks to my dad pushing me through the last few miles. After twenty miles of downhill, my legs were noodles, and my willpower was gone but we just kept moving when things got harder in the flats and hills. Luckily, we had built a pretty good cushion in the canyon and still came in…

A fun day outside
Originally published February 23, 2019, on Jepsonfiles.com Today, my dad and I went cross country skiing at the Country Club at Woodmoor right here in Monument. We got enough snow over the weekend that they could groom the trails on the golf course. It was nice and sunny and the temperature was great for being outside with a light jacket especially when working up a sweat on the skis. It was really fun to just be outside doing something different. We got cross country skis for Christmas but haven’t had much chance to use them yet because of snow conditions or scheduling conflicts. So, it was also cool to feel…

New Heights
Originally published September 10, 2018, on Jepsonfiles.com Last Saturday, I ran my second marathon. I established a new personal best of 4:01:28 which I feel really good about. I was going for four hours which I just missed, but it was still about twenty five minutes faster than my first marathon. I am happy because we pretty much only stopped at the aid stations and an occasional five-second mental break. This is way better for me because I normally need to stop running about every ten minutes. But, now I know that I can push through and that gives me confidence. From here, I just need to keep getting faster…

Marathon man
Originally published November 1, 2017 This past weekend, I accomplished a major goal of mine. My dad and I completed my first full marathon! It is such a great feeling to set an epic goal and then to achieve it. I love to break through those barriers that some put up for people with disabilities. The race was in a beautiful area in southern Utah called Goblin Valley State Park. It is full of cool red rock formations that stand in the middle of this big valley surrounded by red rock cliffs. We hiked through the valley the day before the race. It was really cool. It would be fun…

My half marathon-sized accomplishment
Originally published September 6, 2016, on Jepsonfiles.com Today, I did something that I never thought that I’d be able to accomplish. My dad and mom always encourage me to push myself to do things that are hard and that will take much effort. So, my dad and I decided that we were going to run a half-marathon. We have been training for it all summer and today was race day. We got up really early and headed to downtown Colorado Springs. The race was at a park called America the Beautiful Park and it has a great view of Pikes Peak, the mountain that inspired that song. I was quite…
